A few things up front

The key thing you will do is coordinate and lead volunteers to feed thousands of local families a month. You have got to be a good leader.
This is not a desk job, it is on your feet & hands on. For instance, you will have to be able to lift 40-50 lb boxes and unload trucks.
You will be driving a box truck . A clean driving record and a driver's license for 8 year is required. (No special license needed)
You will be using a forklift from time to time (we will train and certify you), and other material handling equipment.
You will need to be a good multi-tasker who can take initiative to do what has to be done.
If you are a leader who loves serving people and can do some physical work, this hands-on position managing our main Pantry/Warehouse is for you.

This is a 15-25 hours a week part-time position. The hours are weekdays with flexible late afternoon, early evening hours.

This position is more of a calling than a job. Those applying must be passionate about feeding hungry families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A commitment to the mission and vision of Common Heart
High School Diploma or Equivalent
0-1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
Outstanding organizational skills, high level of attention to detail, creative problem solving abilities
Self-motivated and directed and able to work as part of a team
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
Proficient in the use of email and word processing and spreadsheet applications. A familiarity with Google Apps versions of these products is helpful
Must have reliable transportation and have had a valid driver’s license for at least 8 years.
Flexibility and a good sense of humor

Compensation: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Common Heart is a movement of volunteers serving right here where we live. Over the years as we expanded this small revolution of kindness in Union County, we developed a need to hire staff. Our staff perform functions of leadership, management and administration so that our volunteers can shine to accomplish our vision of creating “a small revolution of kindness to eliminate hunger and eradicate generational poverty.”
