Common Heart is seeking an Economic Empowerment Director to lead a deeply relational, community-centered pathway that helps families move from crisis to stability.

Over the past several years, this initiative has grown into a  network of staff, coaches, Allies, volunteers, and partners serving more than 100 families each year through Getting Ahead, Life Coaching, Emergency Savings Incentives, Stability & Growth workshops, and our Economic Empowerment Allies program. We are looking for a leader who will honor what has been built and help it continue to grow.

The Director provides leadership for all of Common Heart’s Bridges Out of Poverty–based Economic Empowerment programs, supervising a team of four staff, working closely with volunteers and community partners, and ensuring families experience consistent, respectful, and empowering support.

This is not a start-from-scratch role. It is a stewardship role — walking alongside an established team and hundreds of neighbors as they build stronger futures.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and coordinate Common Heart’s Economic Empowerment programs
  • Supervise and support a team of 4 staff
  • Guide Getting Ahead, Coaching, ESIP, Stability & Growth, and community workshops
  • Recruit and work with volunteers and community partners
  • Track participant progress and program outcomes
  • Serve as part of Common Heart’s leadership team
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years leading or managing a human services, coaching, education, or nonprofit program
  • 3+ years working directly with families facing financial hardship
  • 3+ years supervising staff
  • Experience working with volunteers and community partners
  • Bridges Out of Poverty / Getting Ahead experience strongly preferred
  • Lived Experience of poverty a plus
  • Strong organization, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm, grounded, and respectful in difficult situations
  • Flexible schedule (some evenings)
Requirements
  • Alignment with Common Heart’s values of Intentional Kindness, Active Engagement, Initiative, Collaboration, and Servant Leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Background check, references, and drug screening required
